Remembering the War
i saw a dead cat in the ally
And ran away into the road
Felt the pavement and the screaching of the auto
As i lay silent in that abode
Shamed and frightened
Small at 9 runing away to hide
My small mind enlightened
A child adult
As we were all
Recalling the Black dead Jew
With his cart of rags
As we screached and threw clods
Of dirt at him in his street
With his creaking cart
He hanging his old head and
Moving on off our street
Not taking our papers and cans
Our piles of rags
Exilerating our win over him
He spoke no English
We decryed him for that
We thought him stupid and mean
Remembering the War
I ran from that car Poor driver
That black runningboard car
That black clad driver with
His hat
His fedora
We laughed our way to the theater to see the Movietone News
The great war each week
Stars many guns Great explosions
Tension and power
The drone of planes
this poor price
And hence to Communion
O God forgive me my sins
I have sined and offended thee
The music was soft and agreeable
The radio news unkind
Silver rode on
Henry! Henry Aldridch were are you?
Squeaking Door
Mystery War
School
Walking past the park and the great smoking railroad
5 cents for an ice and the monkey grinder played a sweet
tune
A tune and dance and the monkey danced
His little red cap and coat
Tighly tucked around him.
